DAY ONE.

We arrived in Vancouver bleary eyed after a nine hour flight. While we waited for our apartment to be ready, we found a lovely Gastown cafe called Nelson the Seagull.

Eating sourdough sandwiches, drinking artisanal coffee, sitting on reclaimed school chairs, and singing along to Neil Young songs, we knew that we had chosen the right place. We had already reached ‘peak hipster’ and we hadn’t even got to Portland yet…

We then checked into our room for the next 3 nights — an AMAZING loft apartment with a mezzanine level, eccentric artwork, and a beautiful view over the city. We vowed that one day we will live here.

We then toured around some of the Gastown antique shops and cafes. Iain picked up a religious icon candle featuring David Lynch (of course…) and we then got a little drunk on cocktails and pale ale before picking up provisions for a lovely home cooked meal.

We were ready for the adventures ahead.
