DAY FOUR

After packing a lot into our time in Vancouver, we decided to take things at a gentler pace on the fourth day of our trip. In the morning, we traveled on the Amtrak Cascades train down to Seattle. There were beautiful views all along the coastline and we were surprised at how different the experience felt to train journeys in the UK. There was something satisfyingly old-fashioned about the experience — especially the baggage trolley which looked like it could have been drawn by a horse.

We then checked into our apartment for the next two nights — a cute little studio in the trendy Capitol Hill area. We especially loved all the little touches our host had included, from the guitar in the hallway through to all the hand written messages urging us to ‘do what you love’ and ‘sing your heart out.’

We then spent the rest of the day exploring Capitol Hill (especially Pike and Pine streets) and falling in love with Seattle.

We were pleased to find that the rope bondage lessons were next door to the knitting shop. Very convenient.

Back at the apartment, Cai had a relaxing bath while Iain made some chipotle nachos, and we then curled up in front of a couple of episodes of ‘The Good Wife’ — recharging our batteries for the roadtrip ahead.
